An Analysis of Causes of Contract Price Change for Competitive Procurements of Replenishment Spare Parts.

Abstract

Aircraft replenishment spare parts procurement has become an increasingly important area of concern. This thesis was undertaken as a result of several recent media and internal Air Force reports revealing the excessive costs of spare parts acquisition. The overall research objective was to determine what, if any, relationship exists between a number of selected quantitative and qualitative factors and the prices paid for spare parts. Multiple regression analysis and t-tests about the individual parameter coefficients in a multiple regression model were used to analyze four years worth of spare parts procurement history data from the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. Eight research hypotheses were developed to satisfy the research objective. The results of the research hypotheses are presented.
