In some cases abstracts or extended abstracts have been inserted for manuscripts not ready in time for the preparation of this volume. Referred manuscripts are to be published in a special issue of Surface Science scheduled for Spring 1984. The Proceedings of earlier conferences in this series have appeared in Volumes 58, 73, 98, and 113 of Surface Science.
