An Optically Coupled Sampling System with 4 GHz Bandwidth.

Abstract

A new approach to the design of an optically coupled multi-gigahertz sampling system with improved bandwidth is reported. The system utilizes the Tektronix S-6 sampling head, the Tektronix 7S122 TDR/Sampler plug-in unit, and a Tektronix 7000 series oscilloscope mainframe. Three fiber optic links replace existing hardwired conductors which convey the vertical error and feedback signals and the horizontal sampling command signal between the sampling head and the oscilloscope sampling plug-in.
