Marine Officer Attrition Model.

Abstract

Predicting officer attrition is a major difficulty in the Planning, Programming and Budgeting Process. The Marine Corps until recently used an averaging method of determining out-year attrition. The purpose of this thesis is to apply econometric techniques to the problem of predicting attrition. This paper develops a simple model which enables the unskilled user to accurately predict attrition.
