Report of a Workshop on Membrane Biophysics Held June 25 - July 15, 1984.

Abstract

Workshop on membrane biophysics was to collect together a group of biologists and biophysicists with common interests in membrane biology. Our aim was to get a fairly diverse group to promote cross-fertilization of ideas among different specialties in membrane biophysics. In the event, there were fourteen lectures spread over a period of three weeks from invitees, with an additional lecture on cell-cell contacts by Dr. George Bell (Los Alamos). The abstracts for the invited lectures are included to form the report of the workshop. The subject matter may be classified as follows: Excitable membranes and voltage controlled gates; Photosynthetic reaction centers; Acetylcholine receptor; Visual transduction; Motility mechanism in bacteria; Protein-protein interactions.
