Automatic Speech Recognition in Severe Environments.

Abstract

The report examines the status and outlook for voice interaction in moderate and severe environments; the primary focus is on the technology of speech recognition and human factor issues associated with its application. Issues in the technology voice input/output are reviewed, and basic concepts in speech technology are investigated. A current status report on computerized speech technology is given and current applications are discussed. The committee indicates directions for future work and then ends with conclusions and recommendations.
