Research on the Technology of Item Writing.
Abstract
Research on new methods of writing test questions for use in instructional systems is summarized in this final report. Three tasks were completed: (1) experimental studies comparing several methods of transforming sentences from instructional materials into test questions, (2) a review of methods and an experimental study comparing the sentence-based questions with items written from learning objectives, and (3) the developement of a Handbook on Item Writing for Criterion-Referenced Tests.
