Neohemoglobins and Cross-Linked Hemoglobins as Blood Substitute.

Abstract

We have investigated the effect of heme modifications and specific cross-linking of beta subunits in human and bovine hemoglobins. It appears that both techniques can be utilized for obtaining products potentially useful as oxygen carriers in resuscitative fluids.
