Boring Information and Subsurface Data Base Package User's Guide.
Abstract
A data base package for storage, retrieval, and display of boring and subsurface data for geotechnical projects is described, and detailed instructions for using the package are given with examples for actual projects. The data package is designed for storage, rapid retrieval, and display of boring locations, boring logs and profiles, and contours of selected subsurface data. The package provides for easy, interactive data entry and editing with automatic data checks and error messages when data exceeds user-specified ranges. Data storage and retrieval are accomplished using the Corps of Engineers (CE) purchased copy of SYSTEM 2000 Data Base Management System (trademark of Intel Systems Corp) on the Corps-wide time-sharing service operated (1984) by Control Data Corp (CDC). The data entry and retrieval programs developed for the package are designed for a low skill level and minimum training of personnel. Data entry can also be accomplished on CE District Harris computers.
