A Teacher's Guide for Using Learning Strategies in English-as-a-Second- Language Instruction

Abstract

This guide is a product of the research component of the Basic Skills Resource Center. The research component involves the implementation of the learning strategies research agenda which includes a research study that focuses on learner strategies used in the acquisition of English as a second language (ESL). The Teacher's Guide demonstrates for ESL teachers how learning strategy instruction can be integrated into a ESL curriculum. Descriptions of learning strategies are provided as well as example lessons that can be used in teaching ESL.
