Propagation and Characterization of the Etiologic Agent of Nephropathia Epidemica.

Abstract

Nephropathia epidemica (NE) virus, strain Puumala, was passaged successfully in C. gaperi voles. In addition to lung suspensions, urine of the infected voles was also shown to be infectious. Attempts to adapt the virus to cell cultures remained unsuccessful.
