Evaluation of an Advanced Combat Vehicle Identification (CVI) Training Program (Masking): A New Approach to Target Acquisition Training

Abstract

This advanced CVI training program (Masking) presents vehicles in hull and turret defilade. Forty-three personnel were trained with either this advanced CVI training program (Masking) or the Basic CVI Training Program (Masking) at (GTA-17-2-9) either 1250 meters or 2000 meters. Performance on an initial test of all the vehicles administered before training was compared with performance on the same test after training to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program. Data indicated this advanced CVI training program (Masking) is an effective training system for what is perceptually a very difficult task.
