Vectorization and Implementation of an Efficient Multigrid Algorithm for the Solution of Elliptic Partial Differential Equations
Abstract
Multilevel adaptive techniques are powerful methods for solving many types of problems in computational physics. In his analysis of multilevel methods for application to elliptic boundary-value problems, Douglas found a particularly efficient algorithm for their solution. This report describes a vectorized, finite-difference implementation of his algorithm suitable for use in large-scale computations.
