Issues Related to Recruitment of Enlisted Personnel for the Reserve Components. Volume 1. Major Findings and Recommendations 1980 Tracking Study. Wave III.

Abstract

RCAS 1980 is the third of an annual series that surveys Issues Related to Recruitment Enlisted Personnel for the Reserve Components. Overall positive propensities show increases from 1979 to 1980 among males but are lower than in 1979 among females. Several factors related to propensity were determined to have the following effects. A preference for serving in the Guard/Reserve or in the Active Forces increase propensity to enlist. Increased incentives for Enlistment should increase propensity. Reducing the 6 year commitment should increase propensity to enlist. Peacetime Draft Registration and a potential draft decrease propensity to enlist. National Service Requirement decreases propensity to enlist. The report concludes with recommendations to enhance Guard/Reserve recruitment on the basis of these results.
