Stable Measures and Processes in Statistical Physics.

Abstract

It is shown how alpha-stable distributions arise in statistical physics. A probabilistic proof of Khalfin's formula for decaying quantum systems is given. Also ergodic properties of symmetric alpha-stable flows in classical statistical mechanics is discussed. (Author).
