Regional Development Impacts Multi-Regional Variable Input/Output Model (MVIO).

Abstract

The MultiRegional Variable Input-Output model (MRVIO) is capable of determining the feasibility of constructing a new waterway, of evaluating the performance of an existing waterway, or of appraising the feasibility of improving an existing waterway such as lock expansion, and channel widening and deepening. Because of this capability, it is an ideal tool for assessing the benefits which accrue to an economy as the result of developing a water resource project. It becomes even more valuable when it is adapted for use in an interactive mode. The primary purpose of this manual then, is to provide an easy-to-use procedure, including the necessary software package for the users of the MRVIO model who wish to perform their own computations.
