Implementation of the Computer Program-System MOSS (Map Overlay and Statistical System) on a VAX-11 Series Computer under VMS.
Abstract
This report describes the work done for transferring the MOSS (Map Overlay and Statistical System) Software package to a VAX-11 series computer running under VMS. Besides correcting syntactic incompatibilities and logical errors the main tasks were the conversion of all display commands to industry standard software and the programming of some additional functions. All major changes and extensions which were necessary or were thought useful are described in detail in Chapters 2 and 3. For a better understanding of these two chapters a revised overview of the whole MOSS-system is given in the first chapter. Chapter 4 deals with the data and workfile structures used in MOSS and describes how input from other geoinformation-or digitizing systems is handled. A description of the MOSS main command procedure, a table of all MOSS commands in the MOSS-VAX version and of additional available programs is given in the fifth chapter. At the end of the report a set of plots and prints is presented which have been compiled to test the correctness of the implemented MOSS functions. Besides this final technical report a revised MOSS USER'S MANUAL and a revised MOSS SYSTEM REFERENCE MANUAL have been compiled. (Author)
