Computer Aided Testability Design Analysis.
Abstract
This study surveyed both current BIT state of the art and CAD tools as a precursor to defining a CAT design plan where specific testability modules were defined for use in an integrated fashion during the entire design process. These CAT modules included: Testability, Allocation, Testability Analysis, Test Point Location, BIT Selector and Automatic Test Program Generator. The findings of this study showed the concept of developing CAT tools for integration into CAD systems to be a practical approach, and the impact on existing CAD systems and database structures to be minimal. However, the five recommended CAT modules had wide ranging levels of development maturity from mature (digital ATPG) to concepts-not-totally-developed (testability allocation). The 'next step' of developing detailed requirements for design of a complete set of CAT modules was recommended. Keywords: BIT (Built-In-Test); Computer Aided Engineering; Computer Aided Design.
