Soviet News and Propaganda Analysis Based on RED STAR (The Official Newspaper of the Soviet Defense Establishment) for the Period 1-31 October 1984. Volume 4, Number 10.

Abstract

During October 1984, the editors of Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star), the Russian language newspaper and official publication of the Soviet Ministry of Defense, allocated 27 percent of international and foreign affairs space to activities and events of the United States. The Kremlin continued to distort the following events and/or issues as part of its worldwide disinformation program. In October 1984, 36 percent of Red Star's coverage dealing with the topic of American hegemony and imperialism concerned Reagan's war in Central America and the Caribbean. During the past two years, the Kremlin has repeatedly exploited American political, economic, and military events/actions in Latin America.
