Abstract

On October 2, 1981, the President announced his decision to cancel the M-X Multiple Protective Shelter (MPS) basing system. This preliminary FEIS captures the environmental data and the analysis in the document that was nearing completion when the President decided to deploy the M-X system in a different manner. Areas studied included Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Texas. Topics covered in this volume include: Human Environment--Employment and labor force, Earnings, Population, Housing, Public Finance, Community infrastructure, Educational services, Health services personnel, Public safety, Urban land use, Transportation, Energy, and Land ownership.
