Theater of Operations Dental Work Load Estimation

Abstract

A dental data base and work load simulation development effort was initiated with this study. Data on various characteristics of dental service in a theater of operation was summarized from a review of literature on previous conflicts and field exercises. Additional information was derived from a prospective study of dental care during a large military exercise in western Europe in 1982. A list of dental conditions which will potentially need dental services in a theater was established and the structure of a data base useful to computerized simulation was proposed. Originator-supplied key words include: Military dentistry; Dental work load; Dental emergencies; Computers in dentistry.
