Hazard Studies for Solid Propellant Rocket Motors Held at Lisse (Netherlands) on 28-30 May 1984.
Abstract
The Conference Proceedings contains 22 papers presented at the Propulsion and Energetics Panel 63rd (A) Specialists' Meeting on Hazard Studies for Solid Propellant Rocket Motors, which was held in Lisse, Netherlands, on 28-30 May 1984. The Technical Evaluation Report is included at the beginning of the Proceedings. Questions and answers of the discussions follow each paper. The Specialists' Meeting was arranged in four sessions: Application of Hazard Technology (6); Fragmentation and High Rate Deformation (5); Mechanisms, Theory and Experiment (7); and Thermal Sensitivity and Cook-Off(4). The meeting offered a forum for experts to present new results of research and development and to exchange their views. It drew upon technical expertise from the high explosives and solid propellants areas as applied to rocket motors, guns and warheads. The subject was especially selected because of its relevance to a NATO group involved in explosive materials and stores. An AGARDograph will be the follow-on activity. Originator-supplied key words include: Deflagration - detonation transition, Detonation hazard, Explosiveness, Hazard of detonation, Rocket motors, Sensitivity of propellants, Solid propellants, Stores for propellants.
