Design and Analysis of Ordering and Join for a Multi-Backed Database System.

Abstract

This thesis proposes implementations of the sort and join in the Multi-Backend Database System. The idea of implementing these operations is to provide better support for relational databases and relational language interfaces. The key issue analyzed is the distribution of functionality of the operation across the multiple minicomputers of the MDBS architecture. The join analysis also examines alternative join algorithms.
