Test of the Dyna-METRIC Aircraft Readiness and Sustainability Assessment Model (OPTP Dyna-METRIC)

Abstract

The test purpose was to determine the suitability of the Dyna-METRIC computer model for analyzing theater wartime aircraft fleet sustainability and parts requirements. Dyna-METRIC was (1) compared to the Overview and PARCOM models used in the CAA Aircraft Spare Stockage Methodology Study and (2) evaluated for representing various controlled-substitution policies. Results suggested that Dyna-METRIC can (1) effectively represent a theater Army helicopter force in wartime, (2) provide comparable results to Overview and PARCOM, (3) perform fleet capability assessments under various controlled- substitution policies, and (4) answer a broad range of aircraft logistics questions. Dyna-METRIC is an excellent model with a high expectation of utility in detailed studies of the Army aircraft logistics system. Additional work would substantiate its applicability and further define and alleviate its limitations. Keywords include: Aircraft; Spares; Spare parts; Logistics; War reserves; Stockage requirements; Inventory management; PARCOM; Dyna-METRIC; Computer model.
