Transformation Toughened Ceramics. A Potential Material for Light Diesel Engine Applications.

Abstract

This report contains three parts: The thermal conductivity studies in the system A1203- Cr203-Zr02-Hr02 are presented in the first part. The mechanical behavior of these compositions will be presented in the second part. The mullite - Zr02 system will be discussed in the third part. The results indicate that a composition containing 15 mole % of Cr203 in A1203 in the matrix phase has a thermal conductivity comparable to that of stabilized zirconia. Originator supplied keywords include: Ceramic materials, Oxides, Zirconium oxides, Processing, Mechanical properties, Toughness, Thermal properties, Aluminum oxides, Heat engines.
