Abstract

In March 1944, the Japanese 15th Army attacked the British 14th Army, seeking to bypass troop units, seize the key communications nodes on Imphal and Kohima, and live off enemy supplies. The British used massive airlift to move both troops and supplies to encircled areas, defeating the Japanese.
