Abstract
This congressional testimony describes our objectives for DoD S&T program, the role that it plays in the development and acquisition of materiel for the DoD, the relationship of S&T to the Soviet threat and the means by which the program is managed and executed in DoD. In addition, I will describe some of the specific programs that made up the DoD S&T program. Contents: Management Actions: DoD-University Relationships, University Research Instrumentation Program, University Research initiative, S&T Role in Export Control, Independent Research and Developemnt, Small Business Innovation Development Program, Consolidation of Computer Resources Management; Selected Fy 1986 Technical Programs: Software Initiatives, Very High Speed Integrated Circuits, Research, Materials and Structures, Aircraft Propulsion Technology, Advanced Aircraft Technology, Undersea Warfare, Missile Propulsion, Chemical Warfare Defense, Training and Personnel Systems Technology, Medical and Life Sciences, Precision Guided Munitions, Search and Surveillance; Supporting Technologies: Geophysical Sciences and Global Environmental Support, The DoD Scientific and Technical Information Program.
