Installation Restoration Program. Phase 1. Records Search, Randolph AFB, Texas

Abstract

This report identified and evaluated several potentially hazardous waste disposal sites at Randolph AFB. Records of past waste handling and disposal practices were reviewed. Interviews with past and present installation employees were conducted to develop a history of waste disposal practices. The environmental setting for effectively receiving the waste was evaluated including, soils, geology, ground water and surface water. Four sites; including a combined landfill and fire protection training area, a fire protection training area, a POL tank sludge disposal area and waste liquid storage tank were found to have potential to create environmental contamination and follow-on investigations (Phase II) were recommended and outlined.
