Performance Analysis of Compressed Truncated Perfect Nozzles.

Abstract

An analysis is presented for predicting the performance of compressed truncated perfect nozzles. The flowfield within the nozzle is calculated by the method of characteristics. The oblique shock wave formed by the coalescence of right-running Mach lines from the compressed contour is fitted discretely and tracked through the flowfield. The nozzle thrust is determined by integrating the momentum flux and pressure forces across the nozzle throat and integrating the wall pressure forces. A computer program implementing the analysis is discussed. Three sample cases are presented to illustrate the use of the computer program. Additional keywords: models; algorithms; parametric analysis; mathematical prediction. (Author).
