Direct Digital Control Study.

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to describe the state-of-the-art of direct digital control (DDC) system technology that monitors and controls mechanical and electrical systems found in Government facilities. A DDC system can operate either as a stand-alone control system or as an extension to an Energy Monitoring and Control System (EMCS). Direct digital control systems are self-contained computer based systems which monitor and control processes in accordance with predetermined strategies. This report addresses the commercial-type DDC systems, in which sensors and controls are connected to a control panel. Control devices are modulated directly by the DDC system in accordance with established algorithms. Unlike industrial-type DDC systems, commercial-type DDC systems do not have a specific address for each control point position. Additional keywords: Energy management; Installation; Acceptance tests; Maintenance.
