Variability of Measures of Weapons Effectiveness. Volume 4. Application to Blast Sensitive Targets in the Presence of Delivery Error.

Abstract

An expression for the probability of kill, of stationary ground point-target is derived subject to the following assumptions: the target is killed solely because of blast; the aiming errors of the air-delivered weapon in both range and defection are independently and normally distributed; the extent of damage to the target is given by a piecewise linear function of the distance between the target and the point of impact. An expression for the variance of probability of kill is presented. Numerical examples and four appendices are provided.
