Abstract
The document is the first of three volumes of the Final Technical Report for the Specification of Software Quality Attributes contract. The purpose of this contract was to (1) consolidate results of previous RADC contracts dealing with software quality measurement, (2) enhance the software quality framework, and (3) develop a methodology to enable a software acquisition manager to determine and specify software quality factors requirements. The methodology and framework elements was developed to focus on an Air Force software acquisition manager specifying quality requirements for embedded software that is part of a command and control application. Volume II and III describe the methodology for using quality metrics technology and include an overview of the software acquisition process using this technology and the quality frame work. Volume II describes methods for specifying software quality requirements and addresses the needs of the software acquisition manager. Volume II also describes and techniques for specifying software quality requirements in terms of quality factors and criteria. Factors interrelationships, relative costs to develop high quality levels, and an example for a command and control application are also described. Procedures for assessing compliance with specified requirements are included.
