Fiber Optic Expanded Beam Connector.

Abstract

This final report describes all work performed in the development of a dual channel, hermaphroditic, fiber optic connector for the U.S. Army under contract DAAB07-82-C-J030. The connector has been designed for application in most adverse environments. Baseline insertion loss for the final model (FEDM) averaged 1.8 dB/channel. Loss excursions brought on by the prescribed test environments were limited to a few tenths of a dB in most cases. Instruction for cabling the connector are included as an appendix. Keywords include; Fiber optics, Gable connector, Expanded beam, and Fiber optic connector.
