Implementation of a Serial Communication Process for a Fault Tolerant, Real Time, Multitransputer Operating System.

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to study a more reliable and faster microcomputer systems for real time applications. The new product of VLSI technology, IMS T424 Transputer is used for the prototype design of this multicomputer system. The multicomputer system's design with the fault tolerance feature, is emphasised in this thesis. Also a serial communication subsystem has been implemented using the VAX 11/780 VMS system for the proposed fault tolerant real time multitransputer operating system. Originator supplied keywords: Transputer (Transistor Computer), Occam programming language, Concurrent processing, Multicomputer, Real time systems, Fault tolerance, Quadruple modular redundancy.
