The Use of the California Psychological Inventory and Demographic Data to Predict Attrition from the United States Army Military Police School.

Abstract

The results of this report indicate that differences do exist in the individuals who pass or are discharged from the Army Military Police School, both in terms of personality data and demographic data. However, these differences are not sufficiently clear cut to allow for individual prediction. Sufficient difference does exist for group screening where the primary consideration is economy of the training effort: that is, where the concern is with maximizing the number who successfully complete the training. For example, the demographic equation was able to accurately select 10% of the discharged group. Thus, this might be a cost-effective screening method, given the high cost of training.
