National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Eagle Lake Dam (MA 00979), Merrimack River Basin, Holden, Massachusetts. Phase I Inspection Report.

Abstract

The dam comprises a concrete ogee spillway section with earthfill abutments behind concrete wing walls. The total height of the dam is about 20 ft. It is small in size with a high hazard classification. The potential hazard to property, and possible human life, is the proximity of the industrial complex to the reservoir and the inadequacy of the channel through the complex to convey high flows, be they the result of high and continued precipitation or a failure of the dam.
