Design Guidelines for User-System Interface Software

Abstract

In computer-based information systems, special attention must be given to design of the user-system interface (USI) software. This report revises and expands previously published material, and proposes a more comprehensive set of guidelines for design of USI software in six functional areas: data entry; data display; sequence control; user guidance; data transmission; and data protection. Additional keywords: Human factors engineering; Systems analysis.
