Points of View in Problem Solving and Learning: Interactive Microworlds for Instruction.

Abstract

This project conducted studies of the role that conceptual point of view plays in problem solving, especially when a problem solver is blocked. During this project, several graphic microworld for studying point of view were designed and implemented, and several experiments were conducted investigating aspects of conceptual point of view in problem solving. This work has developed a firm base from which to develop computer-based tools for problem solving (especially joint problem solving) and instructional approaches for students to learn flexibility in problem solving.
