Acquisition of Navy Land-Based Test Sites Can Be Better Managed.

Abstract

This report discusses ways that the Navy can improve the acquisition management of land-based test sites to ensure that maximum use is made of existing facilities, duplication between existing and new sites is prevented, and the establishment of new sites is cost-effective. GAO makes several recommendations designed to improve the acquisition management of land-based test sites. The Department of Defense generally agreed with GAO's findings and recommendations and outlined actions planned to implement these recommendations.
