Improving the Forecasting Precision of Defense Logistics Agency Production Lead Times: A Feasibility Study.

Abstract

This study investigates the feasibility of increasing the precision of production lead time forecasts by the Defense Logistics Agency through the use of regression analysis and leading economic indicators. A sample study demonstrates the feasibility of the approach by reducing the variance of forecast errors and estimating a potential upward bias. An extensive critical survey of existing forecasting methods is included in this study.
