DECODE - A Software Manual for Use with the Serial ASCII Instrumentation Loop (SAIL) System.

Abstract

DECODE is the title of a user-interface computer algorithm which simplifies access to data in an operating Serial ASCII Instrumentation Loop (SAIL) system. DECODE has been developed to permit users to scale, label, restructure and, select portions of data in the presence of highly variable data formats. These capabilities permit the user to maintain system application flexibility while minimizing changes to the operating software. The concept also appears useful to a variety of data handling systems requiring a less formal method for gaining user access to data. Keywords include: Software, Instrumentation, Serial ASCII Instrumentation Loop System.
