Air Force Organizational Assessment Survey: Initial Revision and Standardization.

Abstract

This study concerns initial standardization of the Organizational Assessment Survey (OAS), including deriving the OAS factor structure, testing each obtained factor's internal consistency reliability, and considering item sensitivity and construct validity of the revised instrument. Data were derived from 1583 subjects from three USAF bases. Using a principal components analysis, results showed a 77-item, 13 factor solution consistent with the Organizational Assessment Package and expections for the new instrument. Alpha coefficients for the factors ranged from .71 to .96. Construct validity results were encouraging, as theoretical and cross instrument relationships were largely verified. Implication of the results and planned future research are discussed.
