Abstract

The FY 1986 request for the Operation and Maintenance, Navy appropriation is $25,797.7 million. This appropriation finances the day-to-day costs of operating naval forces, including fuel, supplies, and maintenance costs of ships, aircraft (including Marine aircraft), and other weapons systems, as well as the support establishment ashore for naval forces. The FY 1986 request represents an increase over the current estimate for FY 1985 of $463 million. Major changes between the years include transfers related to proposed revisions to the Department's expense/investment criteria (+$210.7 million) and the Administration's proposed 5 percent decreases in civilian pay rates (-$116.3 million). This book includes: Budget Activity 7--Central Supply and Maintenance.
