Annual Technical Report, Materials Research Laboratory, 1 July 1983 - 30 June 1984.

Abstract

In 1983/84 the Materials Research Lab at Brown Univ. was engaged in interdisciplinary research concentrated in three major areas which involved participation of investigators from the Dept. of Chemistry, Div. of Engineering, Dept. of Applied Mathematics and Dept. of Physics. A coordinator was responsible for organizing each thrust area, as listed below: These areas of study were: Plasticity and fracture; Inorganic glasses; and Surfaces. In addition, there were three new initiative programs: Conformational and Electronic Transitions in Macromolecular Systems; New Approaches to Surface Modifications of Organic Polymers; and Electronic Properties of Ge-Ge3N4 Interfaces.
