National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Bow Lake Dam (NH 00055), State Number 224.01, Piscataqua River Basin, Strafford, New Hampshire. Phase I Inspection Report.

Abstract

The dam is 24 ft. high, about 40 ft. wide and 400 ft. long. It is an earthen embankment placed between vertical dry masonry walls. The dam is in fair condition. Seepages were noted along the downstream toe on both sides of the spillway and at the edge of Bow Lake Village Road. A major breach at maximum pool would probably result in the loss of more than 10 lives and appreciable damage to property. (Author).
