National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Oliverian Dam (NH-00268) (NHWRB 02306), Connecticut River Basin, Benton, New Hampshire. Phase I Inspection Report.

Abstract

Oliverian Dam is a zoned earthfill structure with 2-1/2 to 1 slopes and a top width of 16 feet. The dam is 46 feet high and 1,060 feet long and has a maximum storage capacity of 2,700 acre-feet. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service Durham, N.H. was responsible for the design and construction of the dam. Based on the visual inspection, review of design data and previous inspection reports, the dam is assessed to be in good condition. The original hydrological and hydraulic design data computations were based on the assumption that the structure would have a moderate hazard potential. There are several items of remedial maintenance which should be implemented by the owner. Keywords include: Visual inspection, Dam safety, Connecticut River Basin, Benton, New Hampshire, and Oliverian Brook.
