National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Lower Groveton Dam (NH 00369), Connecticut River Basin, Northumberland, New Hampshire. Phase I Inspection Report.

Abstract

The Lower Groveton Dam is a run-of-the-river timber crib stone fill dam with timber crib abutments and gate works. The dam has an overall length of approximately 210 ft. and is 15 ft. high. Under normal flow conditions the dam impounds approximately 150 acre-feet and has a drainage area of 251 square miles. It is small in size with a low hazard potential. The dam was found to be in poor structural condition. There are various recommendations which should be implemented. An alternative to the recommendations would be the removal of the dam.
