OSA (Operational Support Airlift Aircraft) Commander's Guide to Pilot Assignments.

Abstract

In 1981 the Air Force began a program of accepting first assignment pilot into the T-39. The program expanded rapidly, and by 1984 the T-39 and its replacement aircraft, the C-21 and C-12 (operational support airlift aircraft referred to as OSA) were manned mostly by first assignment pilot. This program is unique, and many of the rated assignment policies that applied to other aircraft systems do not apply to the T-39/OSA. This guide addresses the most important assignment information so T-39/OSA commanders will be aware of the carrer patterns the personnel community plans for these pilots. This guide also serves as an historical document and combines information from relative assignment regulations with other documentation used between 1980 and 1984 to establish the T-39/OSA assignment policies.
