Solar Flares and Magnetospheric Particles: Investigations Based upon the ONR-602 Experiment.

Abstract

The work performed during the past year can be divided into three areas: (1) Data Reduction/processing and instrument response, (2) Solar flare studies, and (3) magnetospheric particles. Our analysis effort had been divided between obtaining an overview of the entire ONR-602 (Phenix 1) dataset, identifying data processing/analysis problems and locating scientifically interesting effects for additional study, and studying specific areas or fully understand the operation of the ONR-602 instrument in the space environment and the complicated particle flux variations over the spacecraft orbit.
