Non-Gold Base Dental Casting Alloys. Volume 1. Alternatives to Type III Gold.

Abstract

Identified and described in this publication are many of the non-gold base dental casting alloys, on the market today, which have been proposed as alternatives to Type III gold alloys. A new classification method is introduced for these non-gold base systems to permit differentiation between the numerous casting alloys. In addition, detailed technical information is included on the processing methods for representative examples of the various systems. These systems include the silver-palladium, the nickel-chromium-beryllium, the nickel-chromium beryllium-free, and the cobalt chromium alloys. The purpose of this report is to provide the dental officer and the dental laboratory technician with information which may not be available on this subject in other official U.S. Air Force publications.
